Exhibition of basketry in Latvia
From August 26 to September 20, 2010 State Agency of Intangible Cultural Heritage in collaboration with Latvian Folk Art Union and Daugavpils Regional and Art Museum arrange International folk applied arts exhibition of basketry – basket weaving (also basketry, basket making, or basket making) is the process of weaving vegetable fibres into a basket or other similar form.
Subject of the exhibition is different types of baskets, chest, box, dish or other objects based on tradition. The exhibition welcomes craftsmen of applied arts from different countries. We kindly invite the representatives of your country to participate in the exhibition. Dead line for submitting the works is August 20th, 2010.
The opening of the exhibition in Daugavpils Regional and Art Museum will take place on 26th August at 16.00 p.m.
For the purpose of preparing the exhibition catalogue please provide the following information:
- List of participants: name, surname, date of birth, place of residence, description of the work, year of creation.
- If it possible – short brief presentation concerning the situation regarding the applied arts in your country (not exceeding 1000 characters).
- Several photographs of the most characteristic works.
Please inform us concerning your participation and send us the requested materials till 16th July, 2010. Transportation of exhibits to Riga and back is the responsibility of participating country. Closing of the exhibition on 20th September. In the end of exhibition – 19th till 20th September – will be held workshop.
